Position: Infection Control/Employee Health/Trauma Registrar

Status: Full-Time

Education: Current Applicable state RN license. BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC.  Completed American Trauma Society (ATS) Trauma Registrar Course within 6 months of hire.  BSN in Nursing preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • Identifies all reportable cases for inclusion in the registry from the ED patient log.  Maintains Trauma Registry Log.  Case finding meets completeness as required by the Trauma Registry.
  • Abstracts data from the patient's chart including demographic characteristics, history of injuries, and modalities according to established guidelines/reviews in conformance with the Sweeny Community Hospital Trauma Registry.
  • Responsibilities include the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of infections and communicable diseases within the organization, including both healthcare associated infections and community-acquired infections.
  • Knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of healthcare associated infections (HAIs), accrediting organization standards, federal and state regulations and national guidelines.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the infection control process in the healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk stratified statistics as applicable to trending healthcare associated infections (HAIs).
  • Completes required CMR reports to Public Health Department in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains a log of incidents related to infections and communicable diseases, including healthcare associated infections (HAIs) and infections identified through Employee Health.
  • Communicates infection control activities to Administration, Performance Improvement Committee, the Medicine Committee, the Medical Staff and MED via the Infection Control Committee minutes and/or Infection Control Committee Chairperson.
  • Prepares statistics and other pertinent data and reports to the Infection Control Committee at least quarterly or as situations arise.

Position:​ Imaging Manager

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology.  Valid Texas State Radiology Registration.  Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).  Current CPR/BLS Certification.  Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Skills/Duties:

  • ​​Acts as a liaison to Radiologist.
  • Provides overall direction to ensure that the Imaging services are provided in accordance with standards established by the hospital and licensing agencies.
  • Meets radiology financial standards by providing annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances; recommending corrective actions.
  • Supports patient care by resolving radiology issues with physicians, radiologists, radiology technologists, and ancillary staff, improving and maintaining quality assurance program for department functions.
  • Explain procedure to patient,  assists and transfers patient to table, positions patient for accurate images and assists patient at end of procedure.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents necessary for radiologic/ CT examination of internal organs.
  • Assesses and observes patient for adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Performs quality control activities to ensure optimal Quality radiographs/CT scans.
  • Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills to continued competence.
  • Skilled in the operation of stationary/portable radiologic equipment, CT scanner, and sonographic equipment.
  • Complies with all policies, procedures and practices.
  • Send all images to Radiologist for interpretation/reading.
  • CT technologist and Sonographer has the basic understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and medical terminology.Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.

Position: Ultrasound Technologist

Shift: PRN Available

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology.  Valid Texas State Radiology Registration.  Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).  Current CPR/BLS Certification.  Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Skills/Duties:

  • Sonographer has the basic understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and medical terminology.
  • Cleans and disinfects the ultrasound equipment and probes.
  • Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
  • Maintains certification and registration as appropriate.
  • Explains procedure to patient, assists and transfers patient to table, positions patient for accurate scanning and assists patient at end of procedure.Complies with all policies and procedures.

Position:​ RN - Med Surg

Shift: PRN Night 7p - 7a Available

Education: RN Licensed with Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, ACLS and CPR required

Skills/Duties:

  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care, as evidenced by patient/Team Member observation and respond appropriately.
  • Exhibit the ability to assess the patient, collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history.
  • Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by policy.
  • Make accurate assessment of patient's status and respond appropriately.
  • Give a thorough, concise report at change of shift. Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to form guidelines.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Adhere to administrative and nursing policies as evidenced by Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to care for patients with PICC lines, Central Lines and PIV’s
  • Must be able to monitor telemetry patients, and recognize lethal arrhythmias.
  • Must administer and be current, confident and knowledgeable of medications based on age and clinical condition of patient.Remain conscientious in regard to personal hygiene and comply with specific division/unit regulations.

Position:​ Lieutenant - EMS

Status: Full-Time (Non-Exempt

Experience/Education: 

  • EMT – Paramedic Certification or License 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an EMS setting
  • Current AHA BLS Certification (Instructor Preferred)
  • Current or obtainable within 6 months of employment:
  • ACLS Certification (Instructor Preferred)
  •  PEPP or PALS
  •  BTLS, PHTLS, or ITLS
  • NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300 (obtained within 6 months), 700, and 800

Skills/Duties: 

The following are in addition to the normal job description for certification level.

  • Assists with scheduling, assigning, directing and reviewing the work of EMT, AEMT, EMT – Paramedics, and Licensed Paramedics
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to the crew as needed
  • Make critical decisions based upon objective findings and establish guidelines
  • Provide consistent, high-quality patient care and transport care
  • Maximize unit productivity
  • Ensure that ambulance calls are completed in an efficient and safe manner

Position: Paramedic
Status: Full-Time
Education: 

  • Current EMT - paramedic certification or license
  • Current Texas DPS Driver's License (Class C)
  • 2 years' experience in an EMS setting - preferred
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Incident Management Systems ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Current or obtainable within 6 months of employment: ACLS certification

Skills/Duties: 

  • Initiates patient treatment and care utilizing initial protocol treatment based on patient condition. 
  • Conducts basic advanced life support skills
  • Responsible for safety decisions involving the patient and emergency vehicle
  • Drives emergency vehicle to and from calls to transport patients in a safe and prudent manner using the most efficient route to ensure the quickest response times
  • Assist in carrying patients by stretcher or other devices to the emergency vehicle and secure them inside the vehicle choosing the safest means of transport
  • Observes and keeps records regarding symptoms of patients
  • Communicates information to other members of the healthcare profession, patients, family members, and other responders as necessary per HIPAA standards
  • Complies with all current policies and procedures

Position: ED Registration Clerk

Status: PRN 

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Two years' experience in healthcare, registration or PBX operations and dealing with the public preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • PBX operations
  • Data entry
  • Registers patients ensuring demographics and billing information is correct
  • Notifies nurse of patient's arrival
  • Facilitates patient registration and financial transaction according to established policies and/or procedures
  • Manages incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls, overhead and beeper paging (excellent communication skills and a pleasant voice)
  • Monitors and facilitates radio traffic for Emergency Medical Services

Position: Radiology Technologist

Status: PRN

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology

Experience: Valid Texas State Radiology Registration. Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).  Current CPR/BLS Certification.  Two years' experience in a Hospital setting preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • Ability to function independently
  • Knowledge of procedures/techniques involved in producing X-Rays and CT Scans
  • Staffing may include all shift, weekends and holidays. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes of a call
  • Transport patients to and from Imaging Department
  • Stock supplies needed for daily operations

Position: Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician

Status: PRN 

Experience: Five years general hospital lab experience preferred; Cerner EHR, a plus

Education: Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or with equivalent education, ASCP Certification MT/MLT required

Skills/Duties:

  • Properly collect, process and store specimens; evaluate specimen acceptability for testing
  • Technical ability to perform all laboratory tests according to CLIA standards, including Blood Bank, Microbiology
  • Problem-solving ability for procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation; establish and/or maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs
  • Compare test results to pre-established criteria and make a decision regarding the validity of test results
  • Demonstrate management and supervisory skills

Position: RN - Emergency Department

Status: Full-Time

Experience: RN licensed with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE), ACLS, TNCC and CPR required

Sign-On Bonus: $3000 per eligibility

Skills/Duties:

  • Two or more years of nursing experience.
  • ER experience needed.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress ER environment.
  • Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department.
  • Provides care to pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients, and documents care given.
  • Assess all patients and gives care as indicated.
  • Notifies physician and documents orders.

  • Accurately administers medications, starts IVs and monitors IV fluids for correct rate.
  • Continuously reviews and stays current with meds used in all care units.

  • Restocks supplies when units close.

  • Makes sure all staff are orientated.
