Position: Patient Care Assistant - Med Surg

Status: PRN

Education: High School Diploma or GED & Basic Life Support (BLS)

Skills/Duties: 

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs). These activities may include delivering meals to patients, turning, positioning, and ambulating patients, providing fresh water, providing nourishment between meals, and other activities delineated by the supervising nurse
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene. Provide patients ambulating to the bathroom, providing bedpans, assisting with baths, shampoos and showers
  • Provide adjunct care for the patients, including ice packs, non-sterile dressings, and therapeutic baths
  • Check vital signs, empty foley drainage bags, and document information in the patient's chart
  • Other duties as assigned and/or delegated by the Nurse
  • Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures, and abide by federal, state, and local requirements
  • Give a thorough, concise report at change of shift.  Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to form guidelines
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies
  • Adhere to applicable administrative system/nursing service policies as evidenced by policies and procedures
  • Remain conscientious in regard to personal hygiene and comply with specific division/unit regulations
  • Comply with specific system/division/unit policy and procedure concerning safety including all aspects of patient care in Med Surg that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of health care errors.  Always support and maintain culture of safety and quality

Position: RN - Med Surg
Status: Full Time Night Shift & PRN Available​
Education/Experience: RN Licensed with Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, ACLS and CPR required
Skills/Duties:

  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care, as evidenced by patient/Team Member observation and respond appropriately.
  • Exhibit the ability to assess the patient, collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history.
  • Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by SCH policy.
  • Make an accurate assessment of the patient's status and respond appropriately.
  • Give a thorough, concise report at change of shift. Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to form guidelines.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.

  • Must be able to monitor telemetry patients, and recognize lethal arrhythmias.
  • Must administer and be current, confident and knowledgeable of medications based on age and clinical condition of the patient.
  • Remain conscientious in regard to personal hygiene and comply with specific division/unit regulations.

Position: ED Registration Clerk

Status: PRN

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Two years' experience in healthcare, registration or PBX operations and dealing with the public preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • PBX operations
  • Data entry
  • Registers patients ensuring demographics and billing information is correct
  • Notifies nurse of patient's arrival
  • Facilitates patient registration and financial transaction according to established policies and/or procedures
  • Manages incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls, overhead and beeper paging (excellent communication skills and a pleasant voice)
  • Monitors and facilitates radio traffic for Emergency Medical Services
  • Monitors Emergency Department Entrance
  • Excellent public relations skills
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations and multiple tasks in a calm and efficient manner
  • Good memorization skills

Position: Environmental Tech

Status:  Full-Time (must be willing to work all shifts)

Experience: On the job training

Skills/Duties:

  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must understand and communicate in English
  • Routine cleaning all areas
  • Prepare for incoming and outgoing patients through proper disinfectant techniques
  • Prepares solutions according to procedures
  • Ability to use tact and understanding when cleaning patient rooms
  • Loads and transports service cart to work area as needed

Position: Radiology Technologist

Status: PRN

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology

Experience: Valid Texas State Radiology Registration. Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).  Current CPR/BLS Certification.  Two years' experience in a Hospital setting preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • Ability to function independently
  • Knowledge of procedures/techniques involved in producing X-Rays and CT Scans
  • Staffing may include all shift, weekends and holidays. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes of a call
  • Transport patients to and from Imaging Department
  • Stock supplies needed for daily operations
  • Promote privacy and comfort for the patients

Position: Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician

Status: PRN & Part-Time

Experience: Five years general hospital lab experience preferred; Cerner EHR, a plus

Education: Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or with equivalent education, ASCP Certification MT/MLT required

Skills/Duties:

  • Properly collect, process and store specimens; evaluate specimen acceptability for testing
  • Technical ability to perform all laboratory tests according to CLIA standards, including Blood Bank, Microbiology
  • Problem solving ability for procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation; establish and/or maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs
  • Compare test results to pre-established criteria and make decision regarding the validity of test results
  • Demonstrate management and supervisory skills

  • Initiates patient treatment and care utilizing initial protocol treatment based on patient condition.  Conducts basic and advanced life support skills.
  • Responsible for safety decisions involving the patient and emergency vehicle
  • Drives emergency vehicle to and from calls to transport patients in a safe and prudent manner using the most efficient route to ensure the quickest response times.
  • Assist in carrying patients by stretcher or other device to emergency vehicle and secure patient inside the vehicle choosing the safest means of transport.
  • Observes and keeps records regarding symptoms of patients.
  • Communicates information to other members of the healthcare profession, patients, family members, and other responders as necessary per HIPPA standards.
  • Complies with all current policies and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement in determining the appropriate emergency medical treatment of a patient or group of patients according to existing protocols and standards.

Position: RN - Emergency Department

Status: Full-Time, Night Shifts available

Experience: RN licensed with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE), ACLS, TNCC and CPR required

Sign-On Bonus: $3000 per eligibility

Skills/Duties:

  • Two or more years nursing.
  • ER experience needed.
  • Ability to work in a high stress ER environment.
  • Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department.
  • Provides care to pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients, and documents care given.
  • Assess all patients and gives care as indicated.
  • Notifies physician and documents orders.
  • Assists physicians in patient treatment and procedures.
  • Accurately administers medications, starts IVs and monitors IV fluids for correct rate.
  • Continuously reviews and stays current with meds used in all care units.
  • Establishes priority care, quickly identifies what life sustaining measures are indicated and identifies any injuries or problems.
  • Order supplies to ensure proper amounts are on hand at all times.
  • Restocks supplies when units close.
  • Assists with developing, reviewing and revising all policies and procedures
  • Makes sure all staff are orientated.
  • Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients with special consideration of cleanliness, ventilation and lighting.

Experience:​  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.  Texas State Board of Nursing LVN License.  Current BLS Certification.

Skills/Duties:

  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care, as evidenced by client/staff observation and respond appropriately.
  • Assess the patient: Collect and document the patient's current health status on history, as directed by RN.

Experience:  Prefer at least one year of experience working with the elderly in a residential setting
