Position: Patient AR Specialist
Status: Part-Time (20 Hours)
Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent.  Three years’ experience in healthcare billing experience​
Skills/Duties:

  • Monitors and follows up on claims in the 91-days and older patient account receivable categories for timely filing and payment. Determine the reason for any delays and takes appropriate action for resolution
  • Monitors denied charges in the 91-days and older patient account receivable categories and take appropriate action to immediate appeal and mitigate final denial risk
  • Prepares insurance claims for billing, if not processed within the first 90 days
  • Receive and answer billing related inquiries, prepares billing report and handles financial transactions related to accounts in those categories
  • Works in partnership with other Billing Office team members to achieve PFS goals and objectives
  • Assures all claims are accurate and follows generally accepted insurance claim filing guidelines and those specific to an insurance company
  • Receives insurance remittance, advises electronically and either auto-posts or posts manually
  • Process credit balances timely to meet State of Texas Prompt Pay Act requirements

Position: Revenue Cycle Billing Specialist I

Status: Full-Time

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent.  Basic knowledge of medical provider/facility billing and insurance practices

Skills/Duties:

  • ​Manages patient &/or third-party billing, routinely on an established group of payers.  Duties include but not limited to claims/statement processing, payments/adjustments/refunds activities, denial management, & follow-up.  Promptly addresses patient questions/concerns related to their claim/statement.  Assists & facilitates patient/guarantor with self-pay payment options (employee deduction [per HR P&P] / electronic auto-draft pay plans via current credit card processing system).
  • If duties include non-patient AR &/or partner vendors, addresses questions/concerns promptly in order to execute action in a timely manner.  Meets or beats reporting obligations.
  • If duties include patient collections management, process SCH Charity Care write-offs, and appropriate adjustments.  Coordinates bad debt reporting and answers patient or partner vendor inquiries.
  • If duties include management of online credit card transactions, executes duties in conjunction with administrative assistant and daily banking transactions.
  • Interfaces with partner vendors such as The Bratton Firm, HRS, MDM, PMAB, AMB-MARS, and others as appropriate to job duties

Position: RN Circulator

Status: PRN

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.  Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas.  2 years' experience.  Current BLS, ACLS and PALS

Skills/Duties:

  • Ability to adequately assess, diagnose, plan and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient condition
  • Compliance with attendance policy
  • Compliance with facility personnel policies
  • Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs
  • Practices within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actions
  • Provides circulating nurse services in the operating room during surgical or pain management
  • Assist the surgical team as needed in any other capacity
  • Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and/or the patient’s condition changes

Position: ED Registration Clerk

Shift: PRN

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent.  Two years' experience in healthcare, registration or PBX operations and dealing with the public is preferred.

Skills/Duties: 

  • PBX operations
  • Data entry
  • Registers patients ensuring demographics and billing information is correct
  • Notifies nurse of patient’s arrival
  • Facilitates patient registration and financial transaction according to established policies and/or procedures
  • Manages incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls, overhead and beeper paging (excellent communication skills and a pleasant voice)
  • Monitors and facilitates radio traffic for Emergency Medical Services
  • Monitors Emergency Department Entrance
  • Excellent public relations skills
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations and multiple tasks in a calm and efficient manner
  • Good memorization skills

Position: Resident Care Attendant - The Fountains

Shift: Full-Time (2), Weekends 7am - 7pm, PRN

Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.  Valid Texas Drivers License with an acceptable record.  Must obtain and maintain BLS, CPR and AED training.

Skills/Duties:

  • At least one year of experience working with the elderly in a residential setting
  • Passion for working with seniors
  • Able to provide hands on assistance with daily care needs including personal need, grooming, hygiene, housekeeping, laundering, social interactions and meals
  • Assist with routinely monitoring the resident’s comfort and responding to periodic needs
  • Assist with some light housekeeping task as assigned and as needed

​Position: Medical Records Coder/Transcription

Status: PRN

Education:​ Registered Health Information Technician.  Certified coding specialist and experience in a medical records department preferred.

Skills/Duties:

  • Codes all patient records using ICD-CM, current version and CPT when indicated.  Enters codes into the computer and assures abstract contains correct information
  • Processes requests for information according to procedure, analyzing the request for appropriate consent for release, computing appropriate fee for copies.  Protects the privileged contents of the medical records and other confidential information obtained in performing these tasks, duties and responsibilities by adhering strictly to the release of information policies of the hospital
  • Transcribes and types medical reports such as discharge summaries, operative reports, history and physicals, progress notes, consultation reports and similar medical reports from recorded dictation
  • Scans completed medical records into document management system

Position: Scrub Technician

Status: Part-Time

Experience:​ Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or TX LVN License.  Certified in surgical technology preferred (CST OR CORT).  Minimum 1 year experience

Skills/Duties:

  • Ability to function as a member of the surgical team
  • Ability to perform tasks of a scrub technician efficiently
  • Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and/or the patient’s condition changes
  • Cleans, decontaminates, sterilizes and maintains instruments in good working condition
  • Provide direct/indirect services to the surgical patient under the supervisor of the professional nurse
  • Assures all instrument rays are assembled properly and content is correct

​​​Position: Program Therapist

Status: Part-Time

Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.  Professionally licensed by the State of Texas (LPC-I, LPC, LMFT, LMSW). At least one year experience working in Mental Health setting.

Skills/Duties:

  • Therapist will perform timely processing of inquiry/referral calls and walk in scheduled comprehensive clinical assessments including the history of presenting illness, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information to determine eligibility for admission or need for referrals.
  • Program therapist will work collaboratively as a treatment team member to assist medical director and other staff through participation in treatment team meeting to communicate all pertinent information in order to ensure consistent and appropriate care to patients.
  • The therapist provides professional therapeutic counseling by facilitating individual, family and group therapy sessions.
  • Therapist will maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation on all contracts, sessions or meetings that are conducted with or on behalf of the patients.

Position: Paramedic (2 openings)

Status: Full-Time

​Education: Current Texas DSHS EMT - Paramedic Certification or License.  Current American Heart Association BLS Provider Required.  Current Texas DPS Driver's License (Class C).  Incident Management Systems ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800.

Skills/Duties:

  • Initiates patient treatment and care utilizing initial protocol treatment based on patient condition.  Conducts basic and advanced life support skills.
  • Responsible for safety decisions involving patients and emergency vehicle.
  • Drives emergency vehicle to and from calls to transport patients in a safe and prudent manner using the most efficient route to ensure the quickest response times.
  • Assist in carrying patients by stretcher or other devices to an emergency vehicle and secure patient inside the vehicle choosing the safest means of transport.
  • Observes and keeps records regarding symptoms of patients.
  • Communicates information to other members of the healthcare profession, patients, family members, and other responders as necessary per HIPAA standards.
  • Complies with all current policies and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining the appropriate emergency medical treatment of a patient or a group of patients according to existing protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of the geography of the operating area and emergency medical procedures and techniques.

Position:​ RN - Med Surg

Shift: PRN Night 7p - 7a Available

Education: RN Licensed with Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, ACLS and CPR required

Skills/Duties:

  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care, as evidenced by patient/Team Member observation and respond appropriately.
  • Exhibit the ability to assess the patient, collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history.
  • Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by policy.
  • Make accurate assessment of patient's status and respond appropriately.
  • Give a thorough, concise report at change of shift. Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to form guidelines.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Adhere to administrative and nursing policies as evidenced by Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to care for patients with PICC lines, Central Lines and PIV’s
  • Must be able to monitor telemetry patients, and recognize lethal arrhythmias.
  • Must administer and be current, confident and knowledgeable of medications based on age and clinical condition of patient.Remain conscientious in regard to personal hygiene and comply with specific division/unit regulations.

Position: Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician

Status: PRN 

Experience: Five years general hospital lab experience preferred; Cerner EHR, a plus

Education: Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or with equivalent education, ASCP Certification MT/MLT required

Skills/Duties:

  • Properly collect, process and store specimens; evaluate specimen acceptability for testing
  • Technical ability to perform all laboratory tests according to CLIA standards, including Blood Bank, Microbiology
  • Problem-solving ability for procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation; establish and/or maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs
  • Compare test results to pre-established criteria and make a decision regarding the validity of test results
  • Demonstrate management and supervisory skills
  • Commitment to providing the highest quality of health care demonstrated by upholding Sweeny Community Hospital and the Organization's Goals
  • Perpetuate quality health care in the laboratory by supporting and upholding annual Departmental Metrics
